NIRSA Region IV Facilities Roundtable | August 11th, 2020
On Tuesday, August 11th, the Facility Operations Committee conducted their first roundtable of the year and discussed the Region’s Facility Survey that was sent to all regional members on July 22nd. Out of that, there was 38 responses that answered questions regarding special adjustments related to COVID-19. August 11th’s meeting resulted in some great discussion and additional details and insight shared by by multiple professionals across the region.
Some quick facts from the survey are listed below:
- Distributed to Region IV Members on July 22
- Received 38 responses from across the Region
- 21 of the respondents’ facilities are currently open, 17 of the respondents were/are closed (at the time of completing the survey)
- 31 of the facilities plan to re-open with a phased approach
- 21 facilities have implemented an appointment-based system for facility access
- Face Coverings:
- 40% of respondents will require student staff to wear face coverings at all times
- 33% of respondents will require full-time staff to wear a face covering at all times
- 26% of respondents will require participants to wear a face covering at all times
Questions proposed and discussed by the groups include:
- What is our plan for participants who decide not to abide by our adjusted policies (face mask requirements or social distancing requirements)?
- What is your plan for cleaning rental equipment (frequency of cleanings, cleaning solution(s) used, etc.)?
- How are we planning to do Staff Training or Staff Events to help boost morale?
- What are we planning to do for programs like Group Fitness, Intramural Sports and Club Sports?
- What are our plans inf there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 in our facilities?
