The mission of Louisiana Tech Recreation Department is to be the leader in the campus recreation industry by providing the opportunity for all of our patrons to experience a diversity of fitness and wellness opportunities designed to impact overall health and wellness through the highest quality facilities, programs, and services.

Two features of Louisiana Tech Recreation – Lambright Sports and Wellness Center that are considered to be most identifiable would be our bowling alley and rockwall. Louisiana Tech Recreation’s bowling alley was built by the Brunswick Corporation, the six lane state-of-the-art facility. The alley features computerized scoring system with flat screen televisions, touch screen monitors at each lane – displaying up-to-the-second scores, and automatic bumpers for the optimum bowling experience. Our rockwall – Our rockwall is a 30ft. wall that extends approximately 50ft. wide and engineered by Eldorado Climbing Walls. The rockwall features various climbing routes that range from entry level to advanced climbing. Various competitions and student programming are held at ‘the wall’ such as BINGO climbs and races. This feature can be seen upon access to the facility as it overlooks our main student entrance. Amenities of Lambright Sports and Wellness Center are set to capitalize on fitness and wellness opportunities for our Louisiana Tech family and Ruston community to enjoy.

Louisiana Tech Recreational programming features campus recreation opportunities that include Intramural Sports, Club Sports, and Group Exercise. Programs include up to 50 different type of traditional and non-traditional sports and/or activities. Sport/activity offerings range from Intramural Flag Football, Club Bass Fishing, and Sunset Spin with many more opportunities in between. Our Outdoor Recreation program runs quarterly single/multi-day trips with a variety of outdoor activities (e.g. ziplining, biking, and hiking). Another noteworthy program is Rocksteady Boxing. Rocksteady Boxing is a program that aids Parkinson’s disease patients toward enhancing their quality of life by building power, strength, flexibility, and speed! Boxing adaptations focus on moving the body in all planes of motion while continuously changing routines toward a progressive workout. These classes have proven – regardless of the disease progression, individuals can lessen their symptoms and lead a healthier/happier life.

Unique events that we host annually would include Battleship and Crate Climbs. Battleship is a competition held in outdoor pool. The objective of this competition is to sink the opponents canoe before they sink yours! Another unique event includes Crate Climbing which is hosted at our very own ‘Hideaway’ campus Park. Crate climbing is an activity involves stacking bottle crates as the individual climbs. Climbers balance on the top crate as the tower gets taller. The aim is to build as high as you can until your tower topples. Don’t worry – participants are harnessed in!

The best part of being a Region IV institution member is the support network that our colleagues throughout the region provide! If we ever have a question or need to springboard new ideas, we have hundreds of colleagues ready to help at any given time!
