Student Spotlight – Taylor Crabtree
Taylor Crabtree is a first year Graduate Assistant for Facilities at the University of Arkansas, pursuing his Masters of Education in Recreation and Sport Management. Taylor earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He majored in Recreation and Sport Management with a minor in Business Administration.
While at UT-Knoxville, Taylor began as a RecSports Assistant before being promoted to a Building Manager, then Facilities Supervisor, all within a year. He also completed field work for his academic program through RecSports by completing a practicum with the Facilities Manager, a practicum for the department Director and an internship with the Informal Recreation Coordinator.
During his second practicum, Taylor attended the Region II Conference in Chattanooga, Tennessee. While at the conference, the various sessions helped Taylor affirm that campus recreation was the field he wanted to work in as well as see how valuable a resource NIRSA and its members are. The conference provided great opportunities to listen and learn from professionals in the field while making great connections.
During his free time, Taylor enjoys watching Tennessee Volunteers football and Nashville Predators hockey. He also enjoys playing ice hockey and having a nearby ice rink was a factor in where he decided to apply for graduate assistant positions.
